Every Ascend lead guide is Wilderness First Responder certified, and we carry a portable altitude chamber, emergency oxygen, and a comprehensive first-aid kit on every climb.
We measure pulse oximetry twice a day, and we have a clear protocol for descent: any guest whose oxygen saturation drops below safe thresholds, or who develops symptoms of HACE or HAPE, descends with an assistant guide. We do not negotiate the mountain.
